The integration between national common core and the british international curriculum
As a world school, we make every effort to help our students develop a global mindset. At St. John´s our students are educated in three languages — English, Portuguese and Spanish. We make sure the Brazilian Common Core requirements are interwoven into the international curriculum, which favors the transdisciplinary approach to learning, where one or multiple subjects are used as a ladder to facilitate the comprehension of each topic taught, and develop their student attributes.
This transdisciplinary approach happens with the help of inquiry-based projects tailored to broaden critical thinking, and engage students into seeking appropriate answers and solutions in order to solve the tasks assigned to them. Furthermore, they will go beyond intellectual development and into enhancing their human capacities and responsibilities.
